A Question to Ponder
More about language and no language
I’ve written several times about language:
My Love/Hate Relationship with Words;
The Gift and Problem of Language;
Healing Our Cultural Divide
and more.
A few days ago, I wrote about how language is calculated and employed to make us think certain thoughts (How Do You Think?). I wrote it in the hope that, if we are aware of this, we can more consciously choose the words we say or write publicly to make peace. I’ve written about alternate methods of communication that seem so much more expedient (Music! I wish I could make this most honest and direct language.)
I’ve written about meditation—the process by which we attempt to go beyond language and stop thinking. (Meditation)
Today I’d like to ask a question—a question to ponder whenever you feel like it. It is not a complicated question, but the more you ponder it, the more complicated it will seem. And the deeper you go into it, the more you may question your beliefs and your language. All right, enough throat-clearing. Here it is:
What understands what you are reading right now? What or who?
Okay, that’s all I got.
